£1530.00 raised for CAFOD

The SJR Performing Arts department have been part of the annual CAFOD Carol Service for many years and this year, they knew this must continue, but would need to be very different. The department took the brave decision to move the concert to a streamed event. The evening had carols, readings, messages from around the world and created an even wider community and sense of unity than ever before. Our very own Head of Performing Arts, David, wrote a piece especially for the occasion called ‘Sending Our Love’ and it featured messages from Orkney, Sierra Leone, London, South America; even the Archbishop made an appearance.

The event involved St John Rigby College staff and students but also linked with St Edmund Arrowsmith, St John Fisher, St Peter's and Our Lady Queen of Peace High Schools; along with St Teresa’s and St Mary & St John’s Primary Schools. Due to the streaming of the event, we were even able to have a contribution from the Choir of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus School in Sierra Leone.

Whilst streaming the event, donations were made via JustGiving and we raised £1530.00 for CAFOD.
